Regional Joiner

About The Role

The Regional Joiner plays a vital role in maintaining and improving the functionality and aesthetics of our Care Homes. This position is responsible for managing and delivering small joinery and building refurbishment projects, ensuring high-quality workmanship that enhances the living environment for residents. By working closely with the Regional Surveyor and other HC-One colleagues, the Regional Joiner ensures that all projects are completed efficiently, safely, and to a high standard.

Roles & Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution

  • Conduct site visits at designated Care Homes within the allocated region to assess project requirements.
  • Scope out the work needed, providing accurate estimates for materials, labour, and timelines.
  • Deliver detailed progress updates, including photos, as projects advance.

Types of Joinery Work

  • The Regional Joiner will undertake various refurbishment and construction tasks, including but not limited to:
  • Designing and installing timber structures such as smoking shelters, bin stores, and external sheds.
  • Enhancing kitchen and storage areas by designing and installing satellite kitchens, upgrading kitchenettes, and optimising storage solutions.
  • Conducting bathroom IPC works, including white rock installations, pipe boxing, and tiling.
  • Installing and repairing internal and external fixtures such as handrails, shelving, and fencing.
  • Assisting the gardening team with planters and ground level adjustments.
  • Removing outdated specialist features such as old bars.

Joinery Repairs & Maintenance

  • Perform essential joinery repairs, including fitting new door locks, hanging replacement doors, and repairing door and window timber.
  • Install and maintain window restrictors and ironmongery to uphold safety standards.
  • Collaboration & Support
  • Work independently while fostering positive relationships with external contractors and project stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance and support to Maintenance Operatives for complex joinery tasks.
  • Collaborate with Maintenance Operatives on larger projects when additional assistance is required.

This position requires a skilled and experienced tradesperson to oversee the maintenance and operational needs of our facilities.

Qualifications & Knowledge

  • Time-served tradesperson with a relevant Level 2+ qualification
  • Strong understanding of maintenance, health & safety procedures, and risk assessments
  • Technical expertise in mechanical and electrical systems
  • Given the nature of the role, a driving license would be an advantage

Essential Skills

  • Excellent verbal & written communication
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, and deliver high-quality work
  • Skilled in joinery and general building maintenance
  • IT proficiency (Microsoft Office)
  • Budget management, record-keeping & organisational skills
  • Strong time management and ability to work independently

Desirable Skills

  • Additional IT proficiency, numeracy & delegation skills

Experience

  • Understanding of care home building construction
  • Experience managing external contractors (building & M&E)
  • Background in healthcare or a transferable industry
  • Cost planning & budgeting expertise
