International Nurses Day

Approximately 27 million people belong to the nursing profession across the globe, and each of these individuals makes a true difference to people’s lives each day with their unique knowledge, skills and attributes. At HC-One, we appreciate and recognise the efforts of the nurses working in our care homes and our fellow nursing Colleagues worldwide. That’s why we are joining them in celebrating International Nurses Day on 12th May, which marks the anniversary of the birth of Florence Nightingale, the founding patron of nursing.

The theme for this year’s International Nurses Day is investing in nursing, which focuses on the need to protect, support, and invest in the nursing profession to strengthen health systems around the world.

As we reflect on the past two years during the coronavirus pandemic, we recognise the vital role nurses played in supporting our Residents’ health and wellbeing. As HC-One moves into the recovery phase of the Covid-19 pandemic, our nurses will be an integral part of this change and delivery of efficient, quality care. Therefore, we are proud to invest in our nursing profession by providing opportunities for Colleagues to develop their skills and strive for excellence, through our Purpose in Action strategy and Kind Care model. These opportunities include:

  • Professional and practice development
  • Academic programmes to underpin the complexity of adult social care nursing
  • Structured preceptorship programs for our overseas and newly qualified registered Colleagues
  • Developing a clinical learning culture through clinical supervision, reflective practice, mentoring, coaching, and facilitation.
  • Nurse Associate, Registered Nurse and return to nursing pathways.
