To do this, we know it is vital that our Colleagues can access excellent learning and development opportunities. This enables them to learn, grow and develop the skills, knowledge, confidence, and competence required to have the greatest and most positive impact on everyone they meet.

At HC-One, we recognise that Colleagues learn in different ways, and therefore continuous learning needs to be interesting, accessible and, where possible, individualised, aligning with each Colleague’s bespoke development plan.

This means that, as a Colleague at HC-One, you will benefit from many different approaches and opportunities to support your development as you move along your journey with us.

Your Continuous Learning Journey

During your first few months with us, your manager and other Colleagues will support you to settle in, get used to your new workplace and introduce you to fellow Colleagues.

You will follow an induction pathway, which blends opportunities to meet other Colleagues face-to-face and virtually via workshops, while completing online learning modules using our bespoke, award-winning learning system, Touchstone.

Touchstone enables you to stay in control of your own personal development, as you will be able to access a wide range of online learning and resources tailored specifically to develop you in your role at HC-One. You can also explore opportunities to further enhance your skills and knowledge through the list of available training workshops and our course directory. You will be able to download your certificates and personal learning record and keep track of all your continuous professional development.

Our Academy, Apprenticeships and Funded Professional Development

If your role involves managing other Colleagues, you will be supported by the Leadership Development Team and will be able to access our unique virtual learning centre, ‘[email protected]’. This gives you access to a range of resources, opportunities and activities that will support you in developing excellent leadership skills.

Recognising talent and aspirations is important to us at HC-One, therefore we provide a range of ways you can specialise and grow your potential to make the most positive impact. This may be via learning from your Colleagues, accessing external resources and internal development programmes, or through completing apprenticeships and funded accredited qualifications. Our work-based learning opportunities can enhance your abilities, increase your career prospects, and help ensure you can confidently contribute towards delivering kind care.

Our apprenticeships cover a wide variety of areas, including care, hospitality, IT, and leadership. Expert guidance is available to help you identify the right level of apprenticeship for you to start with and you will be fully supported during your program of study.

As a Skills for Care Centre of Excellence, all of our learning is quality assured and reviewed regularly to make sure all Colleagues receive the right learning at the right time.
